The next few days were more waiting and avoiding. I paid my outstanding bills and then I set to getting ready. I packed and repacked my suitcase three or four times, splurged on a few new outfits to see me through the weekend, and also tried out different makeup styles on myself. Romeo and Juliet were restless too, and had taken to pacing as I did. Meanwhile, I was still getting the odd call from tabloid reporters and Veronica, none of which I answered. My clients seemed to have accepted that I would be away from work for the considerable future.
By the time Clark’s red sports car pulled up in front of my building on Friday, I had practically gone stir-crazy from being all cooped up. So, I ran up to it and hopped in. As we took off, Clark turned to me with an easy smile.
“I have a confession to make.”
Chapter Ten
Clark
“We’re going to Cancun,” I announced, and Kristin’s smile froze in place. I glanced at my phone and continued, “In less than two hours, we’ll be on a plane.”
Still Kristin’s face was frozen in that unnatural expression.
“What’s the matter?” I asked and, suddenly, she burst out laughing.
Turning to me with gleaming eyes, she said, “You can’t be serious!”
I grinned, put my hand on her arm and squeezed.
“I sure am. I’ve been meaning to go for ages and when you mentioned that you had always wanted to, well that settled it.” Still Kristin had that silly grin on her face, so I kissed her. When I broke away, she giggled again.
“It’s like a dream.”
“Oh yeah?”
She nodded so hard her honey brown ponytail bobbed behind her.
“Yes. My life, this, you—everything,” she squeezed my hand tightly. “Thank you, Clark.”
I squeezed her hand back. “I’m just glad I get to spend more time with you.”
The rest of the car ride was a sunny sing-along. I cranked up the radio, rolled down the rooftop and we sang our heads off to old rock classics that we only half-knew. By the time we pulled into the airport parking lot, we were grinning stupidly at each other.
Taking her hand, I led the way through the huge building, which was really just a collection of massive windows laced together with metal.
“It’s beautiful,” Kristin said, lagging behind.
“No time,” I said, tugging her along, “We’re a bit late. I should have left earlier, but you know how work is,” I explained. My smile, however, went unreturned.
By now, we were nearly at the gate. The flight attendant glanced at our tickets, and then shot us a you-had-two-minutes-to-spare glare, though I knew that already. On the plane, when we arrived at our first-class seats, Kristin squeezed my hand once again.
“Wow… I’ve never travelled first-class before,” she said.
As I sat down, I smiled at her. The way she delighted in everything, it was almost like a child, like seeing it all myself for the first time. So, this flight, I enjoyed more than any other, as Kristin proceeded to be ecstatic about the sumptuous food, drinks and stellar service.
“How can you stand it?” she asked me finally.
“How can I stand what?”
“Everything being so great and perfect. I’d die of happiness if my life was like this.”
I nodded, her words dropping at my feet like a dead mouse. I thought of Mom and Eugene, and even ever-frowning Yvonne, too.
“Everything isn’t great and perfect, no matter how rich you are. Your problems just change.”
“What do you mean?” she asked.
I gazed out the window at the wispy clouds. “It’s like, no matter what you are, who you are, there will always be problems, the type just changes. For instance, I don’t always get a lot of time to spend with my family because of the work I do.”
Kristin nodded, and then said “So you’ve made quite a lot of… sacrifices in your personal life to be professionally successful, is what you mean?”
“Everything takes sacrifices,” I said, and then closed my eyes. Luckily my phone was on airplane mode, so I wouldn’t have to answer the barrage of texts from Sandra and the others that had been piling up since Wednesday. I should have gotten Carla to respond to them, but for some reason I felt sick every time I was about to tell her to.
Out of the corner of my eye, I glanced over at Kristin. Now, her eyes were closed, she was sleeping peacefully.
Yes, this trip should do the trick. I just needed to get Kristin out of my system, have my fill of her, and then I should be good to go. I should be good to go back to my old life, nice and scheduled and predictable. I couldn’t afford to feel how I was feeling now, as I looked at the sleeping woman beside me, the one who was so very beautiful, even as she slept.
Our plane arrived in Cancun late, but only by a few minutes. Kristin slept through the landing, hardly stirring as the wheels touched down.
By the time we finally made it off the plane, I was just about ready to pass out. So, I bought a chocolate donut, steered Kristin through the never-ending airport, and, finally, hailed a taxi.
“The Beloved Playa Mujeres,” I told our smiley driver and he rocketed off.
As our clunky car drove along palm-tree lined roads, Kristin rested her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes. I tried to do the same, but found myself keeping one eye open, on the lookout for anything suspicious. It was ridiculous but I had to make sure that nothing bad happened to this woman.
The journey was less-than-relaxed for me, and when our cab pulled up to one of the resort’s many tall buildings, I was alert and ready to move. I paid the driver his money, he smiled his broadest smile yet, and I took our bags and led her out of the cab.
The marble-floored lobby was another gorgeous sight Kristin stopped to take in while I dealt with the front desk staff. They handed over the key as soon as I gave my name. Then, it was a quick walk outside to our own personal villa where we could flop onto the bed and I could finally breathe a sigh of relief. Cancun. We had made it.
To my surprise, as we lay there, Kristin began kissing me. She gave me soft, sweet thankful sort of kisses, her adoring eyes never leaving my body.
“I don’t know how to thank you enough, Clark,” she murmured, as her hands moved in synch with her kisses, slipping off my shirt, then my pants.
Then, with one last shy, affectionate look at me, her kisses started making their way down my bare chest. They paused at my boxers, and she glanced up at me with a worried, frightened look.
“What is it?” I asked, and she averted her eyes.
“I want to… I’d like to give you a…” Her gaze flickered to my crotch, and then she shook her head, embarrassed. “But I don’t know how.”
I nodded, stroked her hair and sat up to kiss her cheek.
“You don’t have to if you don’t feel comfortable. But if you want to, then I can tell you how.”
Kristin gave me a small smile.
“You sure?” I asked, and she nodded.
Slowly, Kristin resumed her kissing of my chest, while my pulse rocketed up with what was to come. God, her kisses felt so sincere, so hungry. Now, her hand was slipping under my boxers, sliding them down, over my feet and off. And now, this sweet sexy woman, she was crouched between my legs, face to face with my dick.
Her kisses continued, and I felt myself hardening by the second. When she paused, I stroked her hair, told her, “Kiss it.”
She followed my instructions, kissing tentatively, then, once she saw that I liked it, longer and harder. She paused and I said, “My balls—kiss them, suck them—gently.”
And then—oh fuck yes—she kissed and sucked my balls, while I groaned in enjoyment. After she was done, she paused again so I instructed her, “Lick my dick, every inch of it”, and, as she did so, and I arched my back with the pleasure of it.
It was so hot, seeing this sweet, sexy girl with my dick inside her cheek. By now, she was getting into it, licking and kissing my dick and rubbing it all over her face, practically moaning herse
lf, but I couldn’t wait any longer. So, I grabbed her head, and hissed “Suck it now.” And then, she did.
Her lips locked around my dick and she slid down it, as far as it would go in her little mouth. After all the build-up, it felt like my dick was going to explode, but I urged her on. As she sucked I grabbed her breasts over her top, told her “More.” And so, she sucked on and on and soon I was on the edge, but she was pausing, looking at me questioningly.
“Suck it, suck it as far down as it’ll go,” I commanded, and she took it in her mouth, all the way down and further. I could feel—oh fuck, yes—my dick nudged against the back of her throat.
And then I was cumming, and she was holding herself there, swallowing it down, my hot delicious orgasm tremoring through both of us.
Afterwards, she flopped to the side and I kissed her on the cheek. My darling, my dirty surprise, my innocent Kristin.
“Thank you,” I said.
“Thank you,” she said, burrowing her head into my chest.
It was ridiculous; I was about to say, “I love you” for some reason, but I stopped myself just in time.
Chapter Eleven
Kristin
Waking was a rude stream of light into my eyes. Feeling vaguely like I’d had this morning before, I blinked, rolled to the other side of the pillow and found my lips meeting Clark’s. I jerked back and opened my eyes to find him there, smiling at me.
“Morning, sleepy.”
I grinned, and then kissed him again.
“So it wasn’t a dream.”
Clark shrugged, rose, and strode naked through our luxurious suite.
Gesturing with a lean arm he said, “I don’t know; this seems pretty much like a dream too.”
Looking down, I noticed that I was naked too. Shyly, I wrapped myself in more blankets.
Grinning mischievously, Clark strode over and, in one swift yank, tore the blankets away.
“Hey!” I protested, but his grin only broadened.
“What’s the matter?” he asked, “It’s not like I haven’t seen it before.”
I could only ruefully agree and then, vengefully, heave a pillow at him. Clark, however, caught the floppy, cotton-cased thing easily. He turned to me with a dangerous gleam in his eye.
“Oh no,” I said, scrambling off the bed. He continued advancing, pillow out, ready to strike.
“Oh yes.”
I dashed out through the room and into the bathroom. But it was too late; Clark was inches away, striking me with the soft pillow, roaring with laughter as I shrieked in protest. Cornered in the kitchen, I held out my hands to stop the onslaught of pillow strikes in vain. Soon Clark swept me up in his arms, and carried my struggling form to the bed and tossed me onto it. There, pinning me down with his naked body, he kissed me while I laughed and shrieked.
“Clark, let me go! Let me go! Why are you doing this? Stop it, stop—”
Clark paused. Still pinning me down, he lifted his body a bit to get a good look at me.
“Because…” His gaze flicked to my lips. “Because…” Suddenly he frowned, and then rolled off me. “Actually, we better get going. We have a busy day ahead of us.”
With that, he strode into the bathroom and shut the door.
I stared at the closed ivory exterior for a minute, wondering if that was how it would always be with Clark. A door that opened only fleeting, only temporarily.
By the time I had gotten dressed and put on a touch of makeup, Clark was out of the bathroom and raring to go.
“We can have breakfast at the resort—if we don’t get out of this room now, we’ll never leave,” Clark joked. His smile seemed easy enough, although there seemed to be something behind it. I didn’t reply, but I returned his smile, and he seemed to relax just a little.
Soon we were outside on the plant-filled terrace, along with a few other sleepy-looking guests. We served ourselves buffet-style, chowed down the delicious eggs, bacon, and army of pastries, and then it was time to head out.
We were walking out of the resort’s front doors when I asked Clark “What happens now?”
Taking my hand, he kissed me on the cheek.
“What happens now is ca-knot time!”
At my blank stare, his face went red and he looked away.
“I said it wrong didn’t I?”
Giggling, I patted his arm.
“Maybe, if I had any idea what exactly it is you were trying to say. What is this “ca-knot” exactly?”
Clark gave a rueful smile.
“Those lakes…the holes of water you talked about on our date.”
While he pouted, I burst out laughing. After a minute, I searched his face incredulously.
“You remembered that?”
His smile was even broader now.
“Wait till you see the next part of today!”
And, as we waited for the car Clark had ordered, I squeezed his arm and into his ear, I whispered “And, babe, they’re called cenotes.”
Clark could scowl only for a second before he too was cracking up at his mistake.
Chapter Twelve
Clark
As we drove along to the cenote, Kristin couldn’t seem to keep her hands off me. Every second she was stroking my arm or kissing my cheek, or resting her head on my shoulder, or murmuring marvels in my ear how I had gotten an attendant to pack up our bathing suits and things without her even noticing. I kept my head turned to the window so she wouldn’t see the smile on my face.
I felt lazy, stupid. I felt like we could be in this rumbly car like this, with our grumbly bare-faced driver and his jangly dashboard gorilla, just traveling to our destination, not going anywhere and not doing anything, that we could do this forever and I would be happy. More than happy, I would actually prefer it, not being separated from the honey brown-haired girl resting her head on my shoulder.
I sat up straighter and leaned forwards to ask the driver: “Are we close?”
The driver grumbled something I couldn’t understand in reply. It could have meant anything from “yes, only five more minutes” to “no, I took a wrong turn and we’re actually headed towards Acapulco.”
Less than five minutes later, we had our answer. The car pulled into a parking lot, with a sign that read, Sistema Dos Ojos.
“Clark…” Kristin said quietly, shooting me a worried look and indicating the empty parking lot.
“I might have booked the whole place so we’d have it to ourselves.”
Kristin let out a disbelieving laugh. “You didn’t!”
Then, tearing out of the car while I paid the driver, she saw that indeed I had. After a quick talk with the attendant at the stand, we got changed into our bathing suits. Then, we hurried down the wooden staircase and we were there. The Sistema Dos Ojos. Or rather, one of the many entrances, according to the front desk attendant I’d talked to at our resort.
“This place is huge,” I told Kristin, “I think so far they’ve found 28 cenotes in the whole system. So, it’s best if we stick together so you don’t get lost.” Putting her arms around me, Kristin kissed me. “I wouldn’t mind getting lost all that much.”
I kissed her back and grinned.
“Oh no?”
She only kissed me in response.
The first stop we reached was more of a cave than a cenote, it didn’t have any water, but boasted an impressive array of stalactites. Kristin oohed and aahed, but this wasn’t what we’d come here for. No, we’d come here for the next cavern, the one we had to swim through several minutes to get to: a real open-air cenote.
“Oh wow,” Kristin said, swimming into the sunlight.
“Oh wow” was the least of it. The light streaming down, the crystal-clear water—hell, even the clean, clear scent—it was stunning. The floor was slick rock, the walls the same smooth perfection. And the light, the light streaming around the woman who was herself a light, the light throwing that beaming face into an almost heavenly halo. This was perfect, she was perfect.
W
e stayed in the cenote for an uncountable amount of time. Kristin twirled and laughed and soaked up the sun, while I watched, there for her to kiss and hold, but nothing more. To do anything more, even to respond to Kristin’s stroking of my chest and advances, seemed like it would have been too much. Right now this moment was already so ideal, to do anything seemed like it would disturb it.
Finally, my stomach began to growl, and when Kristin asked if I wanted to get some lunch, I couldn’t refuse.
Back at the stand with the floppy-haired, tanned attendant, were the lunches I had ordered in advance. Sitting under a palm tree, Kristin and I ate chicken stir-fry to our heart’s content and, when we went to rise, we found that we didn’t want to.
“I’m tired,” Kristin said, flopping back onto the grass with a lazy smile. I flopped back beside her.
“Looks like it’s time for part two of today’s adventure,” I said, and she grinned.
Helping her up, I led her to our driver, who had been waiting, flopped in his car with his phone out. Then, we were in the car and back on the road again. Much of the journey was scenic, with lush forests on either side of the road. Even if it weren’t for that, the ride would’ve been more than enjoyable, with easy conversation with Kristin about nothing in particular.
At one point, she asked “When do I get to find out where we’re going?”
I kissed her cheek. “When we get there.”
And it wasn’t long before we were pulling into another parking lot. This one had a small wooden cabin further off, marked “Coba.”
Getting out of the car and looking around, Kristin squeezed my arm.
“Clark you didn’t for this one, too! You did it again, booked it for us. A Mayan pyramid to explore all alone!”
I took her in my arms and pulled her into my chest.
